Owner Meg Ryan grew up in Addison in a large family with lots of pets. She attended Driscoll Catholic High School and earned a business degree from Elmhurst College. She began riding horses at age 9, and at 16 became a working student at North Wayne Stables in Wayne, IL, where she learned to care for horses and the farm and developed a love of Dressage. At 18 she taught lessons at Deer Grove Horse Center in Palatine and within a year was managing the farm, caring for 40 horses and teaching riding lessons. She later worked at Hewitt Associates in Lincolnshire for 22 years before returning to dog walking, vacation care and farm sitting.

Meg moved to Volo in 2006 and began caring for a neighbor's dog, Aspen, during long weekends and vacations, which started her pet sitting and dog walking work. More dogs and cats were added over the years. She adopted Ninja, a 5-year-old black cat known for opening drawers and cabinets, and fosters kittens and cats, currently caring for two kittens named Nugget and Needle.

Second Chance Pet Sitting brings horse barn and farm management experience to pet sitting and dog walking across Volo and the surrounding Lake County communities.
