Illinois Martial Arts Academy

Illinois Martial Arts Academy is a martial arts school in Lake in the Hills, Illinois, serving students from Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, Crystal Lake, Huntley, and Cary. The academy specializes in kids and adult martial arts, self-defense, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing, fitness, and character development. Its children and youth programs focus on listening skills, self-discipline, coordination, concentration, stranger awareness, and bully proofing, while adult students train in personal protection and a high-intensity kickboxing program for physical conditioning. Classes are offered for all ages and skill levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. The academy holds a rating of 4.90.

Instruction is led by graduates of an instructor-training program, and instructors work closely with students toward their individual goals. Student-to-instructor ratios are kept low, and training takes place in a facility built around the traditions of the martial arts. The curriculum offers progression in technique, discipline, confidence, and fitness, and the academy describes a community in which students support one another and grow together.

The academy is located on Dowdle Court, about a tenth of a mile from West Algonquin Road. Crystal Creek is roughly two-tenths of a mile away, and Stoneybrook Park and the Algonquin Post Office each sit about four-tenths of a mile from the school. Kenneth E. Neubert Elementary School is about half a mile away, near Ratt Creek.

The academy's 4.90 rating reflects the experiences of the customers who have reviewed it, and its programs span jiu jitsu and kickboxing for both children and adults across the Algonquin area.
