The business holds a rating of 4.2 stars.

The Boesen story began in 1923, when the original shop opened on Beaver Avenue. Today it is run by the third generation of the family and operates from a 60,000 square foot facility that includes a design studio, seven greenhouses, a distribution center, and retail space. The shop handles wedding flowers for the ceremony and reception, with wedding packages covering bouquets for the bride, bridesmaids, groom, groomsmen, and both sets of parents, and also rents table linens, table cloths, and napkins for events. Beyond fresh arrangements, the staff can advise on decorating with fresh flowers for weddings and other occasions. The shop was a founding member of the Iowa Society of Florists and Growers. Its team has used CO2 technology in its coolers for refrigeration, bacteria control, and ethylene displacement to keep flowers fresh, and has been recognized among the top 25 florists in the United States by major floral wire services, named Best Place in Des Moines to Buy Flowers, and received the Better Business Bureau's Integrity Award.

The main store and greenhouse sit on Beaver Avenue in Des Moines, near Douglas Avenue, about a third of a mile from Holy Trinity School and roughly half a mile from Ashby Park in the Beaverdale neighborhood.

Now more than a century old, the family-run shop remains one of the longest-operating florists serving the Des Moines area, with a scale and history that few neighborhood flower shops in Iowa can match.
