The instructors have been performing and teaching together since shortly after they married forty years ago. They have three grown children and eight grandchildren. In 2000, Trisha's mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and by 2001 she could no longer care for herself. To keep her at home rather than in a nursing home, the couple made life changes that included starting their online business in 2001. They began by making and selling custom-designed music t-shirts, handmade wooden musical spoons, and washboards. Over the years, they expanded their store to include other music items such as instrument figurines, jewelry, musical instrument wall hangers, musician's tie tacks, exotic wood pick and reed cases, Christmas ornaments for musicians, musician's note cards, and miniature musical instruments.

Collectively, the instructors and their students have won over 50 ribbons and cash prizes at local and statewide competitions. Notable accolades include the Edward Lee Flemming Jr. Award for musical excellence at the Florida Old Time Music Championship. The instructors play over 14 different instruments, bringing a wide range of expertise to their lessons.
