The salon was founded in 2021 by Valerie Ireland, who has been a licensed nail technician since 2005. She was inspired to enter the field by her mentor and trainer, Maryellen Tanner-Vincent, and worked at local salons and spas before stepping away from nails in 2013 to raise her children. During that time she worked in the restaurant industry, including at PUBLIC eat+drink in North Adams and District Kitchen & Bar in Pittsfield. She later returned to nails and opened Polished. Her husband, John, designed the salon.

Massage therapist Bridget works with the salon. She has been a massage therapist for 17 years, beginning her career at Canyon Ranch in Lenox, Massachusetts, where she worked for seven years before moving to Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in 2011. She continues to work there part time while building her own massage practice. Her training covers Swedish, deep tissue and pre-natal massage, Ayurvedic massage, and she is a Reiki Master.
