The property has a long history. It was originally known as Lake Pierce Club and was built in 1925, and over the years it drew visits from actors, actresses and a President of the United States. In the 1940s and 1950s it operated as The Bonaire, a spot known for good times and a pleasant stay, and it continued as a hotel until the end of the 1960s. It then passed through a succession of owners, including a Vietnamese family who housed refugees there. In 2016 it was purchased by Rev. Jim Way, president of Capernaum Ministries, and renamed Capernaum Lakeside Lodge; the ministry carried out extensive renovations, restoring the oak flooring and stripping the walls back to their original state. The building later changed hands again and became Bella Cosa Lakeside Lodge & Venue, and it has been used as an exclusive-use wedding venue ever since.
