Habitat Upper Keys ReStore

Habitat Upper Keys ReStore is a thrift store in Key Largo, Florida. It operates as a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center, selling new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories and building materials to the public at a fraction of retail price. Proceeds from the ReStore support Habitat for Humanity's work building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of decent, affordable housing. The store holds a rating of 4.60 from the customers who have reviewed it.

The ReStore is owned and operated by the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate, Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys. It accepts donations of reusable and surplus building materials, furniture and appliances, and sells them to the public. The affiliate's homeownership program selects homeowners through a family selection committee that considers three criteria: the applicant's level of need, their willingness to partner with Habitat, and their ability to repay a mortgage through an affordable payment plan. As part of that partnership, homebuyers invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, called sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and other Habitat homeowners. Family selection follows a nondiscriminatory policy; neither race nor religion is a factor.

The store sits on Overseas Highway, about 0.2 miles from Key Largo Elementary School and roughly 0.3 miles from Florida Bay and Key Largo Fire Rescue, Station 24. Sunset Cove is about 0.4 miles away, and the WKLG-FM and WZMQ-FM towers stand about 0.5 miles from the store.

Habitat Upper Keys ReStore is known for its positive rating from customers, reflecting the experience shoppers and donors have had at the Overseas Highway location. As a thrift store in Key Largo, it gives residents and visitors a way to buy affordable home goods and building materials while directly supporting Habitat for Humanity's homebuilding work in the Upper Keys.
