Founded in 2005 by Tim and Jessica Vogel, Scenthound began as a mobile dog grooming service before expanding to salons. The founders observed that most dogs do not receive the essential hygiene care they need to stay clean and healthy. This realization led to the creation of a model that prioritizes routine wellness over traditional, often unnecessary, stylized haircuts. The approach is designed to be convenient and affordable, allowing dog parents to drop off their pets and return later. The facility aims to create a calm environment where technicians use positive reinforcement to help dogs become comfortable with the process. Regular visits are encouraged to build confidence and trust between the dog, the staff, and the facility.

The service menu is divided into basic hygiene, blow-outs, and haircuts to ensure flexibility. Specific treatments include a two-stage teeth brushing process to reduce plaque, a blueberry oatmeal scrub for facial staining, and manual expression of anal sacs for small breeds. Nail filing with a dremel is offered for dogs with thick or black nails. The business serves all dog breeds and emphasizes that routine care is preventive health care, supported by veterinary recommendations for overall well-being. Scenthound also offers three membership options that provide a 25 percent discount and utilize technology-based wellness tracking.

Scenthound is recognized for its positive rating from the customers who have reviewed it, reflecting the value of its transparent pricing and focused approach to dog wellness.
