Kelly's Logan House is a bar in Wilmington, DE. Established in 1864, it holds the distinction of being the oldest Irish bar in Delaware and the oldest continuously family-owned Irish tavern in America. The bar offers tavern, dining, and banquet facilities, along with live entertainment. A National Historic Site, it has been at the center of Trolley Square for 161 years and serves as the hub for St. Patrick's Day celebrations. The Logan House was originally constructed as a resort hotel intended to be the center of activity in what was then called the Forty Acres. Travelers would stop in from the nearby railroad station for a meal or drink and often stay the night. Notable guests over the years have included Buffalo Bill, Wild Bill Hickok, John L. Sullivan, and Al Capone, with more recent visitors including Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Pete Best, and Ryan Phillippe. The bar takes its name from General John A. Logan, a Union Army general who instituted Memorial Day. On September 4, 1889, John D. "Whiskers" Kelly and his wife, Hannah Kelleher Kelly, purchased the establishment. It served as a tavern, hotel, and residence for the Kelly family, and all five of their children were born in the building. Kelly's Logan House is now in its fifth generation of Kelly family ownership. Kelly's Logan House holds a rating of 4.20, reflecting the experiences of its customers.
