OutCATS grooming

OutCATS grooming is a dog and cat groomer in Newtown, CT, and the first feline-exclusive grooming salon in Fairfield County. The salon provides compassionate care aimed at enhancing the comfort and well-being of cats. Its services include removing tangles and mats, degreasing coats, removing excess shedding, cleaning hindquarters, trimming nails, and neatening overgrown faces. It holds a rating of 5.00 from the customers who have reviewed it.

The salon is owned and operated by Barbara Yu, a Monroe, CT resident who grew up working in her family's business and spent about 17 years as adoption coordinator for the rescue organization Save Our Strays, Inc. Her training was provided by The National Cat Groomer's Institute, and she has completed all written exams while working toward the practical exams required to become a Certified Feline Master Groomer. She is also a Fear Free Certified Professional and has completed Cat and Dog First Aid requirements through the American Red Cross.

The salon explains its approach to cat grooming in detail: cats lick themselves rather than groom themselves, which leaves saliva and dander and does nothing about tangles, mats, dandruff, skin conditions, or unsanitary buildup. The groomers use high-quality tools and advanced techniques, and they introduce each cat to the bathing process gradually. Drying is done with the Catty Shack Vac patented drying system, which the salon states it is the only grooming salon in the area to use, with other drying methods available for cats that are not comfortable in it. Cats are not sedated. Grooming appointments require updated vaccines and a physical exam by a licensed veterinarian within the last 12 months.

The salon is located at 71 S Main St STE 12, about 0.1 miles from South Main Street and Deep Brook, 0.2 miles from Deep Brook Pond, and 0.3 miles from the Newtown Country Club.

Its 5.00 rating reflects a positive record with the customers who have reviewed it, and its focus on cats sets it apart among groomers in Newtown.
