She lived and worked in New York City before relocating with her family to Tokyo, and is a native of Serbia. She and her family of four are now settled in New Canaan.

The studio's approach centers on a collaborative process that engages every trade involved in a project. Three principles guide its decisions: beauty, expressed through materials chosen for how they feel and how they age; health, through low-VOC paints and finishes, natural fibers, and responsibly sourced materials; and sustainability, with an emphasis on US-made, locally crafted, and environmentally conscious goods.
