Honey Tree was founded in 2002, when Danielle and Mike Gallop bought a small preschool on Monroe Turnpike and opened the first Honey Tree campus. Danielle holds a BA in English, spent 12 years in marketing, and is certified by the State of Connecticut as an Education Consultant. The school has since grown to three Connecticut campuses, in Monroe, Wilton and Bethel, and the leadership team brings over 189 years of combined early childhood education experience. The Monroe campus was the first Honey Tree location recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and the school has been voted Best of Fairfield County. All lead teachers are certified as Head Teacher by the State of Connecticut, hold a CDA or a degree in Early Childhood Education, and all staff are certified in CPR, First Aid and medication administration.
Safety and family access shape daily operations. Every door is secured with a unique code, only authorized adults may enter, and each drop-off and pick-up is logged by name, time and authorized person. Children receive a wellness check at arrival, and the facility is nut free. Enrolled families receive secure 24/7 access to live HD classroom cameras, and the school follows Connecticut ratios of 4:1 for children under age 3 and 10:1 for ages 3 and older.
The campus sits on Monroe Turnpike, about 0.2 miles from Monroe Elementary School and the same distance from the turnpike itself, with the Farmill River and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce roughly 0.3 miles away. Elm Street is about 0.3 miles off and Ondex Pond about 0.4 miles.
Families from Monroe, Trumbull, Newtown, Shelton and Easton have enrolled since the school opened, and its 4.70 rating reflects that record of parent trust in Monroe.
