Hops on the Hill Brewery

Hops on the Hill Brewery is a brewery in Glastonbury, CT. It is a farm brewery that operates from a converted tobacco barn dating to 1950, where the family that owns it has cultivated Broadleaf Tobacco for more than seventy years. The brewery serves craft beer brewed in-house, with a range that includes lagers, ales, and IPAs, along with a rotating selection of seasonal beers available on tap in the rustic taproom. Patrons can drink a pint on-site or take home growlers and cans, and the brewery is set on an active farm where hops, tobacco, and sunflowers are grown. Hops on the Hill holds a rating of 4.40.

Established in 2019, Hops on the Hill is a family-run operation owned by Al and Nancy Gondek. Nancy manages operations while Al handles the many roles that come with running both the brewery and the surrounding farm. Head Brewer Joey Lushing joined the team after twelve years as Head Brewer at Olde Burnside Brewing Company, where he brewed their Ten Penny and Dirty Penny Ales, and before that spent three years as Assistant Brewer at the same brewery. He began homebrewing in the late 1990s and has been a South Glastonbury resident since 2003. The brewery hosts parties, weddings, and private events, and rents out tents, a barn, kegs, and ice tables. It also runs acoustic music nights, accommodates table reservations, and coordinates food truck visits. The on-site shop carries t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, glasses, gift cards, and dog toys. The brewery is marking its seventh anniversary in June 2026 and continues to grow as a destination rooted in the agricultural history of South Glastonbury.
