Creative Playschool Inc

Creative Playschool Inc is a preschool in East Lyme, CT. The school operates as a cooperative preschool owned by the parents of currently enrolled children, some of whom serve on an Executive Board. It is a non-profit, non-denominational, equal opportunity preschool that follows Connecticut State regulations and operates under the administration of the East Lyme Board of Education, funding its programs entirely through tuition and fundraising events. Founded in the spring of 1966, Creative Playschool was established by parents who wanted to create a preschool environment where children could feel good about themselves and learn to grow and share with their peers. The founders believed a cooperative model offered the best transition from home to school, reasoning that a young child's first experience with separation is eased by a parent's participation in the classroom. This cooperative approach remains central to the school today, with parents taking part in regularly scheduled days as active classroom participants alongside teachers, observing their children directly and building a parent-teacher partnership. Through shared effort among family members, children, other parents, and teachers, the program aims to support each child in developing individual personality, curiosity, interests, and abilities. The school's classrooms and offices are housed within the Lillie B. Haynes Elementary School at 29 Society Road in Niantic, CT. The teaching team includes Head Teachers Sarah Patterson and Kimberly Dufrene. Sarah holds a B.A. She joined the staff in 2018 and is in her fifth year of teaching pre-k at the school. Kimberly has been in education for sixteen years, received her teaching credential from San Diego State, and continues her education in her role. Creative Playschool holds a rating of 5.00 based on customer reviews. Drawing on a cooperative tradition that has continued since 1966, the preschool provides families in East Lyme with a play-based early childhood program rooted in parent involvement.
