Lost Acres Vineyard

Lost Acres Vineyard is a winery in Bloomfield, CT, that handcrafts fine wines from vineyard to bottle at its farm winery on Lost Acres Road. The vineyard welcomes visitors to its Tasting Room from April through December for wine tasting, picnicking, live music, and art shows. Owners Kevin Riggott and Michelle Niedermeyer run the property as a working farm winery, and the tasting room operates on summer hours from Friday through Sunday. Guests can also take part in a Community Supported Agriculture program and visit a pick-your-own tulip farm on the grounds.

The property carries a long agricultural history. In the 1700s, the land was a political no-man's land known as "the Wedge," and in the early 1800s the area was populated by free-spirited, independent-minded cider-making hill farmers. Riggott and Niedermeyer extended that tradition from cider into grape wine, reclaiming a former apple orchard and replanting it with grapevines. Their stated philosophy is that the essence of the vineyard is farming, with wine made in the field. The site continues to contribute to the agricultural character and natural beauty of the surrounding Granby area.

The vineyard hosts a busy calendar of events alongside its regular tastings, including Friday Night Pizza, Friday Night Yoga, Yoga in the Vines with Rachel, and Modern Vintage Opera. Live music runs throughout the summer from performers such as Globe Hollow Trio, Jeff Blaney, Jeff Ryan, Jim and Alex, Jim Lenn, John Mayock, Ken and Steve, Last Fair Deal, Legacy Jazz Reimagined, Liam O'Brien, Mama Train, Sarah the Fiddler, Sassy Brass, String Theory, Steve O'Brien, and Tim McDonald. A photography show by the Simsbury Camera Club runs from July 3 to August 9, with an artist reception on July 11 and additional performances by Tim McDonald on July 10. The vineyard also hosts seasonal celebrations such as the Harvest Celebration 2025 and Thanksgiving and Holiday Farmers Markets, and it features rotating art exhibitions by artists including Christine MacClintic, Cynthia Gorman, Doug Williams, Jessica McGarry, and groups such as the Bartlet Granby Artists Association and the Granby Land Trust Juried Art Show.
