Lois uses differentiated, individualized instruction to accommodate each student's needs, and she has had consistent success teaching non-readers to become fluent readers. She is the author of A Good Start Reading, a beginning reading program from Oli Kids Co. designed for children just learning to read. Her experience spans all grade levels and all areas of both the regular and special education curriculum, including The Common Core, which allows her to offer interventions that produce quick improvements in each student's confidence and progress. One parent of a former tutoring client reported that Lois taught her child to read when the school system could not, and another wrote that her daughter, then a year and a half behind grade level at a private school, reached grade level in less than six months after Lois identified how she learned best and designed a plan that was both fun and effective.

The business sits on West St, about 0.2 miles from Longs Pond and a short distance from Simsbury Road. Bloomfield Center Fire Department Duncaster Fire House is roughly 0.7 miles away, with Loeffler Road and Gale Pond each about 0.8 miles from the location and Cold Spring Reservoir about 0.9 miles away.

Families in Bloomfield and the surrounding area looking for a reading tutor with decades of classroom and one-on-one experience will find that background reflected in the rating her clients have given her.
