The family-owned and operated, full-service print shop was founded in 1975 by Gerry and Janet Morrell and has served the area for more than five decades. Its work spans high-speed digital and custom offset printing, along with banners in vinyl and polypropylene for indoor and outdoor use, bindery services that include spiral, comb, saddle stitch and perfect binding, scoring, cutting, die cutting, UV coating, laminating, numbering and folding, and cut vinyl in black, white or full color. The shop also offers self-serve copiers in its lobby, copying, faxing and scanning to file, and fine art and giclee prints made from digital files or from photographs of original artwork. Morrell Printing holds a 5.00 rating from the customers who have reviewed it.

Gerry and Janet Morrell started the business on September 15, 1975, as Morrell Graphic Communications at 801 South Public Road. The company moved to 101 North Public Road in 1976, bought its first Macintosh computer, laser printer and 20MB hard drive in 1985, and in 1988 purchased the Old HiWay Drug Store building at 111 South Public. A color copier and a two-color Ryobi offset press followed in 1989. In 2008 the shop expanded to its current and largest location at 990 South Public Road. Gerry retired from printing in 2000 to serve as Fire Chief for the City of Lafayette, and Janet worked at the shop until her retirement in 2021. The business passed to their four children, Jim, Jeff, Kristel and Matt, who own and operate it today; Janet still helps with bookkeeping, and Gerry's nature photography hangs in the lobby.

The shop sits on South Public Road, about 0.1 miles from the Lafayette Flea Market and 0.2 miles from Lafayette City Hall and the Lafayette Post Office. East South Boulder Road and West South Boulder Road are each about 0.2 miles away, and the Flower of Life public artwork is about 0.3 miles from the location.

Morrell Printing has been recognized with the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award in 1994 and again in 2016, induction into the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame in 1998, and a Better Business Award in 2011.

For Lafayette, that makes Morrell Printing Solutions a print shop with five decades of local history behind it, still run by the family that started it on Public Road in 1975.
