Founder Kathleen Valentine is a certified Pro Dog Trainer and Behavior Specialist with advanced credentials from Absolute Dogs. Her methodology utilizes games-based concept training rooted in science-based principles and positive reinforcement. This approach focuses on teaching dogs how to think through short, purposeful games to build skills such as focus, confidence, impulse control, and calmness. Kathleen holds specialized badges for specific breeds and behavior challenges and is completing a bachelor’s degree in Canine Behaviour through Canine Behaviour College. She has studied directly under Lauren Langman and Dr. Tom Mitchell, founders of Absolute Dogs and Help! My Dog. Her training includes the Geek program for advanced behavioral science and the Genius program for handler mechanics.

Every session begins with a behavior consultation to assess the root causes of a dog's behavior, including physical health as a contributing factor. Training plans are customized to a dog's specific history, triggers, and needs. Group classes, such as Puppy Fundamentals, Canine Life Skills, and Scent Training, are held at the Cosmic Dog Training Center inside The Happy Beast in Lafayette. Private sessions can be conducted at the client's home, in their neighborhood, at the training center, or via video coaching. The business addresses reactivity, anxiety, fear, separation anxiety, leash pulling, jumping, barking, lack of recall, resource guarding, and general manners. Kathleen’s husband, Phillip, manages marketing and design and trains the family’s four dogs using the same games-based methods. The family dogs include Koda, a rescue with severe anxiety; Leo, a Shiba-Inu/Shar Pei mix; Arrow, a Border Collie working toward agility; and Fabi, a service dog in training.
