Altitude Driving School

Altitude Driving School is a driving school in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. It serves Douglas County communities including Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree and Parker, along with Arapahoe County areas such as Southeast Aurora, Centennial and Greenwood Village, and Jefferson County communities including Lakewood, Littleton and Golden. The school holds a 4.40 rating from the customers who have reviewed it.

Altitude was founded by police officers who are also certified law enforcement driving instructors, and its instructors are active or retired police officers or police-trained instructors. The school teaches students to drive from scratch, rather than requiring a set number of parent-logged hours before a first lesson. Instruction takes place in Altitude's own vehicles, which are equipped with a second instructor brake and cameras for safety and security. Behind-the-wheel drives are conducted at suitable high school parking lots during off hours, and students ready for the road continue onto public streets.

Course offerings include a 30 Hour Online Drivers Ed course, 6 Hour Behind-the-Wheel training, and a 3-hour Crash Avoidance Skills course open to drivers aged 15 to 25 who hold a permit with at least 30 hours logged, or a license. The crash avoidance course is held at Castle View, Ponderosa and Rock Canyon, with morning and afternoon sessions. Students bring their own vehicle to that course. Package options combine the online course with behind-the-wheel training, and some include the crash avoidance course. Registration allows up to a year to begin the drivers ed course or schedule drives, and the online course must be completed within three months of creating a login. Students must be at least 14 years and 6 months old to begin the course.

The school sits on West Highlands Ranch Parkway, about a tenth of a mile from AdventHealth Highlands Ranch Emergency Room and the same distance from The UPS Store. South Broadway is roughly two tenths of a mile away, as are the Douglas County Sheriff's Highlands Ranch substation and Children's Hospital Colorado Therapy Care, Highlands Ranch.

Altitude's instructors bring years of law enforcement training and firsthand experience of the situations that lead to tickets and crashes, which shapes how the school teaches new drivers across Highlands Ranch and the surrounding Denver suburbs.
