Sunflower Hill Child Care

Sunflower Hill Child Care is a Waldorf-inspired daycare located at 1520 S Glencoe St in Denver, CO. Founded in 2003, the center operates with a LifeWays approach, offering a healthy, holistic method for childcare. It is a non-denominational facility that focuses on individualistic, creativity-based learning to support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The program aims to foster a child’s unique potential and spiritual being through exploration in a warm, non-institutional, and homelike environment.

The childcare setting is described as beautiful, clean, safe, and non-cluttered. To support developing imaginations, the center uses carefully chosen toys made mostly from natural materials. This approach allows children to explore at their own pace without feeling hurried or pressured. The curriculum emphasizes outdoor engagement, including activities such as singing songs and interacting with features like a pumpkin patch. Director Kathy O’Connor, who began her career in early childhood education in 1994, became the owner in 2014.
