Founded in 1995 by Dan and Janelle Nelsen, the business was established as a family-owned operation in Canon City. In 2022, ownership transitioned to the next generation, with Brad Nelsen and his wife Jennifer taking over to continue the family tradition. The store emphasizes a personalized experience, performing most repairs on-site to ensure pieces are handled by skilled experts. Services include general repairs such as resizing, rhodium plating, chain repair, re-tipping, and soldering. The bridal department offers a curated selection of engagement and wedding rings.

The custom design process utilizes MatrixGold CAD software to create photo-realistic renderings based on customer concepts or existing stones. Designs are prototyped using Asiga 3D printing technology with specialized photo-polymer resin. The workflow proceeds through investment casting, where the resin is burned out and metal is poured with precise temperature control. Final production involves cutting sprues, sanding, setting diamonds and gemstones using techniques like prong, bezel, or pavé, and applying a high-luster polish. The store also stocks specific items such as a 5 Diamond Scallop Anniversary Band made of 14K yellow gold.

The business maintains a 4.80 rating from its customers. It has served the Canon City community for over two decades, transitioning from its founding in 1995 to current family leadership. The positive rating reflects the satisfaction of customers who have utilized its repair, custom design, and retail services.

Nelsen's Fine Jewelry combines decades of family heritage with advanced custom design and repair capabilities, serving as a trusted local resource for Canon City residents seeking expert jewelry care and unique pieces.
