Tyse Tutoring and Test Prep

Tyse Tutoring and Test Prep is a tutoring service in Boulder, Colorado, offering online and in-person test prep and academic tutoring for school-aged students. The center serves students from 6 to 22 years old in SAT and ACT test prep, PSAT preparation, literacy, speed reading, math, and science. The center began in 1994, when Blair Tyse founded Minds In Motion SAT Prep in Cupertino, California. Since then, she has offered test prep to more than 2,000 high school juniors and seniors, working with students bound for Ivy League schools as well as those struggling with learning differences. Academic support was added in 1995, when some students needed extra work in their math and science classes. Blair holds a BS degree in Physics with a minor in Aerospace Engineering, and she is fluent in math levels up through BC calculus and in high school chemistry and physics.

In 1996, Blair noticed that a small percentage of her high school students could not finish the reading portion of the standardized tests they were preparing for, and that neither practice nor strategy improved their scores. She sought out professionals who could support those students and began learning about visual processing issues and dyslexia. She referred clients to clinical psychologists for academic testing and evaluations, and to vision therapists and literacy specialists who could help students improve their reading skills. She studied research-based literacy intervention that helped students reach at-grade-level reading.

The office is at 1295 South Broadway, Suite D, accessed from Toedtli Dr, in South Boulder near Table Mesa and Broadway. Shepherds School is about 0.1 miles away, Tantra Sledding Hill and Tantra Park sit roughly 0.2 and 0.4 miles from the office, and Tantra Lake is about 0.4 miles away. South Foothills Highway is about half a mile off, and the office is accessible from the Skip, Hwy 93, and Hwy 36.
