Since 1978, Copeland's Martial Arts and Fitness Center has trained students of all ages in the practice of martial arts and karate. The school is led by Sensei Conroy Copeland, who has been teaching students to be the best they can be through martial arts since that year. Training at the school is designed for children, teens, and adults, building strength in body and mind while enhancing individual focus, concentration, self-esteem, positive relationship building, respect, and courtesy. The curriculum is taught in the style of Gojuryu Karatedo, a name that means hard and gentle style and the way of the empty hand. While honoring centuries-old martial arts traditions, the school remains dynamic and seeks new and innovative ways to engage students. Programs are carefully structured to go beyond punching, blocking, and kicking, helping students acquire effective self-defense skills and offering a personal development program. Classes are open to students starting at age 6 and are offered at novice and intermediate levels at the Windsor location.
