Allen Mortuary is family owned and operated, and describes itself as the only family-owned funeral home in the Turlock area. The business was founded in 1952 by the late William E. "Bill" Allen after he graduated from the California College of Mortuary Science, continuing a family legacy of doing business in their community. Bill's father, the late Rev. William E. Allen, was raised with a Quaker background and was founding pastor of a local church. Michael Allen serves as president and Alison Allen as vice president and funeral director. The staff includes a preparation room manager, an assistant manager, a crematory manager, a licensed embalmer, funeral directors, an advance planning specialist, a bilingual arrangement counselor, and on-call family attendants.

The mortuary operates licensed, on-site crematory services and accommodates memorial or funeral services, large or small, in its chapels or at a family's church. It partners with Fresh Ideas Flower Company for sympathy flowers. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturday from 8am to 12pm, with staff available by phone at any time.

The funeral home sits in historic downtown Turlock, about a tenth of a mile from Turlock City Hall and a short walk from Central Park. South Golden State Boulevard and East Avenue are each roughly two tenths of a mile away, and the public artwork Calafia is a similar distance from the building.

Allen Mortuary has built a strong local reputation reflected in consistently high customer ratings, supported by an established track record and a large base of customer reviews. For Turlock families, that combination of long local history and family ownership is the foundation of the care the mortuary provides.
