Torrance Bakery

Torrance Bakery is a bakery in Torrance, CA. The Rossberg family opened its doors on October 18, 1984, starting in 1,200 square feet of space with seven employees and a goal of serving the South Bay with cakes and pastries. Today the bakery operates from two locations totaling 14,000 square feet with a staff of around 100, a separate custom cake showroom, a full-service coffee and tea bar, and a sandwich and salad cafe that also handles catering.

The cafe serves lunch Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, built around daily fresh-baked bread from the bakery, house-roasted turkey, made-from-scratch soups, and in-season salads. The sandwich menu includes house roasted turkey, barbecue beef, chicken salad, pastrami, tuna salad, fresh vegetarian, a classic BLT, grilled paninis such as pesto turkey and southwestern vegetarian, and a spaghetti meatball sandwich. Custom wedding and celebration cakes are a central offering, with the bakery producing roughly 280 handcrafted cakes each weekend. Daily specials rotate monthly and have featured items like a Summer of Love turkey sandwich, a grilled roast beef sandwich on a house-baked jalapeno cheese roll, chile rellenos, and a BBQ meatloaf sandwich.

Among the recognitions Torrance Bakery has received are Modern Baking Magazine's National Retail Bakery of the Year, the Los Angeles Business Journal's 2019 Most Influential Family-Owned Business, the South Bay Association of Chambers of Commerce Hall of Fame, the Torrance Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business and Legacy Awards, the California Small Business Award, and Best Bakery in the Daily Breeze's South Bay's Best reader poll since 1993. It holds a rating of 4.7.

The bakery sits on El Prado Avenue, about a tenth of a mile from the Marcelina Station Torrance Post Office and the Torrance Historical Society Museum, just south of Torrance Boulevard, and within a short walk of Thomas Keller Memorial Park and John F. Kennedy Memorial Park.
