Established in 1972, Kids N Things Inc is led by Director Miss Carol, who oversees a staff of trained teachers assigned to each age group. Staff members hold training in early childhood education as well as CPR and first aid. The school's stated approach centers on a loving, warm, and nurturing environment with a wide range of experiences both inside and outside the classroom, with the goal of building self-esteem and a healthy self-concept in every child. Families are welcome to visit the classrooms and spend time with the teachers.

The preschool sits on Avenida Simi, near Tapo Creek, and is roughly a tenth of a mile from the Simi Valley Municipal Court and the Simi Valley Senior Center. Rancho Tapo Community Park, the Simi Valley Public Library, and Simi Valley City Hall are all within about a quarter mile.
