They consulted local architect Allen Zimmer, who proposed becoming a partner. After six years of dealing with the County of Santa Barbara’s approval process, State Street Storage opened in late 2004.

Following Allen Zimmer’s death in 2016, his daughters Kirsten, Augden, and Maud became owners. Jeanne (Bootjer) Tekince remains an owner and serves as the Managing Partner. The business is family-run.
