Founded in 2017 by winemaker Kevin Luther, Lucid Winery emerged from a passion for crafting natural and organic wines. Luther spent 20 years traveling the world making wine and obtaining three wine degrees before launching the venture. He spent the next three years fermenting, aging, blending, and bottling each wine in preparation for the public launch in Sacramento. With a commitment to sustainability and authenticity, Luther invested his resources to bring his vision of artisanal, eco-conscious winemaking to life. The winery donates to charity for every bottle sold and emphasizes community connection.

The winery’s launch was scheduled for March 28, 2020, but a COVID stay-at-home order required a pivot to virtual operations. Luther and his brother Jerome hand-delivered wine in mini bottles by bicycle and hosted live tastings on Facebook. This creative approach led to tens of thousands of views and the sale of over 30,000 wine tasting kits between 2020 and 2021. The business became a leading provider of virtual wine tasting experiences in the United States during that period, connecting wine lovers across the country. Today, the winery welcomes guests to its physical tasting room while continuing to offer virtual experiences and wine clubs with exclusive perks.
