Dr. Stabbe attended Colorado State University and completed advanced coursework in internal fixation of fractures in Ohio, arthroscopic surgery at Colorado State, reproduction and embryo transfer at Colorado State, the second international laparoscopic surgery course in San Diego, comprehensive dentistry courses, acupuncture training in Las Vegas, and an ultrasound diagnostics course in San Diego. He attended the American College of Veterinary Surgeons annual educational forum frequently from 1980 to 1998, along with the UC Davis Lake Tahoe equine conference and the American Association of Equine Practitioners annual meeting. He performed the first colic surgery in the area in 1983, the first arthroscopic surgery in 1987, and treated fractures with internal fixation as early as 1987. Before founding the clinic in 1981 at its present location, he spent a year as a resident veterinarian at a large quarter horse breeding facility in Minnesota, where he was responsible for the care and breeding of over 300 mares.
