Heacock Trailers is in its 85th year as a family owned business, now led by fourth generation owners Matt and Anna Heacock. The company was originally established in 1939 by Ed Heacock in Glendale, California, under the name Heacock Welding, where Ed specialized in fabricating custom designed hitches at a time when hitches were not yet available as pre-manufactured products. Ed taught welding at the local college and eventually expanded to two Southern California locations. In 1945, his son Bob took over the Glendale shop, custom-building thousands of hitches over the next 35 years before retiring in the 1980s and passing the business to his sons. Regular business hours run Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the shop closed on weekends.

The dealership sits at 1105 El Camino Real, a short distance from West Branch Street, with El Camino Real itself about 0.2 miles away. Ocean View Elementary School is within a quarter mile, and Saint Patricks School is roughly 0.3 miles from the location. The Department of Social Services is about 0.4 miles away.

Customers who have reviewed the business rate it positively, reflecting a reputation built on more than eight decades of family ownership on the Central Coast.
