Alabama Dance Academy of Vestavia Hills

Alabama Dance Academy of Vestavia Hills is a dance studio in Vestavia Hills, AL, situated on Old Columbiana Road in nearby Hoover. The school offers classes in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, pre-ballet, lyrical and contemporary, and Pilates, serving children and adults ages three and up at every level. Founded in 1995 by professional ballet dancer Pamela Merkel, the academy operates from a single location and does not participate in competitions, focusing instead on quality training and performing opportunities both locally and throughout the United States. The studio holds a 5.00 rating based on publicly available customer reviews.

The academy provides three spacious dance studios with professional flooring and full-length mirrors, along with a dressing area, a large waiting area, and ample parking. Its faculty is made up of teachers with years of professional performing and teaching experience. Beyond regular classes, students have access to guest artists, a Nutcracker production, and an annual recital, as well as seasonal fall and spring performances. The studio is open by appointment at 205-978-6830 and can be reached through its website.

The studio sits on Old Columbiana Road about 0.1 miles from Montgomery Highway and a similar distance from Green Valley Elementary School. Patton Chapel Road is roughly 0.2 miles away, with Sertoma Park about the same distance to the south. The Jefferson County Revenue Department Satellite Office and American Family Care Hoover are both within about four tenths of a mile.

Three decades of instruction under a single founder, a faculty drawn from professional dancers, and a 5.00 customer rating have made the academy a longstanding fixture of dance education in the Birmingham suburbs.
