Dr. Jared Kern grew up in Colorado and moved frequently as a child, spending time in California, New York, and the Midwest before relocating first to Washington and then to Alaska. He is an avid runner, skier, packrafter, kayaker, and photographer who enjoys Alaska's mountains, rivers, forests, and wilderness. Dr. Kern graduated from college with a degree in photography before pursuing podiatry at Des Moines University, where he earned his doctor of podiatric medicine in 2005. He then completed a residency at the Encino Tarzana Regional Medical Center Podiatric Residency Program in Los Angeles, training in conservative and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. After residency, he began practicing in 2008 in southwest Washington before moving to Alaska in 2011. From 2011 through 2024 he was part of Alaska Foot and Ankle Specialists, and he now continues that work through Chugach Sports Foot and Ankle. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and board certified in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery.

The clinic sits at 1917 Abbott Road, Suite 100, in Anchorage, in the Advanced Health Center building behind the GCI building and next to the Credit Union 1 building. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with the clinic closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
