Yuut Elitnaurviat is a 501(c)(3) Corporation dedicated to providing training and education opportunities for the people of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Region. The organization was established following a conversation between former Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation CEO Gene Peltola and former U.S. Senator Ted Stevens, who recognized a lack of vocational training opportunities designed to meet the needs of local residents and employers. Over the past 20 years, Yuut Elitnaurviat has created numerous training programs and constructed a state-of-the-art vocational campus. The organization offers culturally relevant and regionally responsive training programs designed to prepare local residents for high-wage jobs in response to the regional economy and unemployment rates. These programs combine intensive academics with on-the-job training. The Board of Directors consists of the Executive Directors or CEOs of some of the largest employers in the Y-K Delta, including the Association of Village Council Presidents, AVCP Regional Housing Authority, Bethel Community Services Foundation, Calista Corporation, City of Bethel, Lower Kuskokwim School District, Orutsararmuit Native Council, University of Alaska Fairbanks Kuskokwim Campus, and Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation. All programs are offered with the approval of, and often in conjunction with, these partner organizations. The administrative staff includes Executive Director Valerie Davidson, Program Manager Fia Aloysius, Director of Operations Tiffany Tony, ABE Instructor Mike Husa, and Support Services Coordinator Joann Nelson.
